Yogis have long recognized that the mind and the body are one and the same. How we inhabit our bodies has a direct impact on how we think, feel and act in the world.
The alchemy of Somatic practices lies in the connection between sensation and our reactions.
Our personal stories are expressed as subtle vibrations and experienced as sensations, visions and symbols.
Through the stillness of Yin Yoga, we can hover our attention near these subtle vibrations in an act of deep listening where our awareness of sensation expands and thoughts, feelings and behavioural patterns that no longer serve us, dissolve.
Attending to the language of the body in this way, brings the systems of the body into coherence, regulates the nervous system, balances hormones and on a cellular level, turns off genes that create disease while activating genes that promote health and longevity.
In this workshop we will begin with gentle rhythmic movement to improve interoception (the system that helps us to feel into our inner world).
We will then move into the stillness of Yin yoga infused with somatic practices.
Finally, we close with a Somatic Dreaming practice where we plant the seeds to create the future we truly desire.

Angela’s journey with yoga began after a serious spinal injury in the 1990s. Through her practice, she experienced profound healing—not only in her body, but in her mind and relationships as well. This transformation inspired her to become a yoga teacher in 2000.
For over a decade, Angela lived in Costa Rica, where she served as Director of Wellness at Samasati Retreat Centre. After returning to Toronto, she established the yoga program at St. Michael’s Hospital and taught at respected studios including The Yoga Sanctuary, Core Studio, and Equinox. Eventually, Angela founded her own beloved yoga studio in Cabbagetown.
Over the past decade, Angela has travelled extensively, sharing her expertise by consulting and leading teacher trainings throughout Asia, South America, Central America, Europe, and Canada. Her teaching is grounded in a deep understanding of Yin and Vinyasa yoga, meditation, yoga philosophy, trauma-informed yoga, and both physical and energetic anatomy.
Angela’s forties were marked by both challenge and resilience. She faced breast cancer, a full hip replacement, and the loss of her father—all experiences that deepened her appreciation for the sustaining power of her practice. Today, Angela is back on her mat and grateful for the opportunity to teach and inspire others.
A lifelong learner, Angela is currently studying to become a Somatic Movement Therapist. She is passionate about integrating the latest scientific research with time-honored spiritual traditions, bridging Eastern and Western approaches to healing. Her mission is to help others find harmony within themselves, creating more peace in the world around them.
Angela often shares this wisdom with her students: The limits we experience are often self-imposed. When we allow our minds to explore new possibilities, we discover a far richer and more rewarding way to live.
